성수에서 중요한 것은 ”특별함“이다
어디에서도 볼 수 없는 클라이밍문화복합공간을 건축적으로 구현하고자 했다.
”특별함“의 방식에 있어서 등반의 경험을 건드렸다.
보통 한층내에 있는 벽을 오르고 다시 내려오는게 일반적으로 사람들이 하는 경험이다. 단층적으로 오르고 내리는게 끝일 뿐이다.
하지만 나는 건물의 1층부터 옥상까지 일련의 등반경험이 끊이지 않게끔 하고 싶었다. 일련의 등반과정을 하다가 중간중간 마주하는 커뮤니티공간들이 등반의 “보상“으로 작용할 수 있게끔 하였고 실제 등산의 과정처럼 느껴지게끔 했다.
건축적으로 구현하는 방법도 역으로 틀어보았다.
기존의 매스를 디자인 하는 방식이 아닌 ”보이드“를 먼저 디자인 하는 방식을 택했다. “뻔한” 등반이 되지않도록 중심을 관통하는 보이드루트, 외부를 파고드는 나선형 보이드루트 두가지를 도입했다. 두가지 보이드(등반루트)를 통해 사람들은 건물의 외벽을 등반하는 것+ 내벽을 등반하는 것을 동시에 다채로운 경험을 할 수 있다.
클라이밍에 있는 다양한 종목인 리드클라이밍,볼더링,스피드클라이밍있다. 종목마다 필요한 높이또한 다르다. 슬라브들을 일부 자르고, 뚫어서 내부에서도 여러층을 등반하는 경험을 할 수 있게 했고 필요한 여러가지 높이 또한 충족시켰다.

What’s important in Seongsu is “special.”
It was intended to architecturally realize a climbing cultural complex space that could not be seen anywhere else.
I touched the experience of climbing in the way of “special”.
Climbing and descending a wall that is usually within a floor is a common experience for people. It’s just a single-story rise and fall.
However, I wanted to make sure that there was a series of climbing experiences from the first floor of the building to the roof. During a series of climbing processes, the community spaces encountered in the middle could act as “reward” for climbing, and made it feel like a real climbing process.
The architectural implementation method was also reversed.
Instead of designing the existing mass, the company chose to design the “void” first. In order not to make the “obvious” climb, it introduced two types: a void route that penetrates the center and a spiral void route that penetrates the outside. Through the two voids, people can have a variety of experiences climbing the exterior walls of a building + climbing the interior walls at the same time.
There are various climbing events such as lead climbing, bouldering, and speed climbing. The height required is also different for each event. Some slabs were cut and pierced to allow the experience of climbing multiple floors inside, and various heights were also met.
